Come to our second SPOOOOOOKY sale!

Come along this Saturday 10-4.30pm to Coffee Cranks in Alexandra Park where will be hosting our second spooky sale of our fabulous artists’ wares, this time including new additions Becky Beighton and Jayne Pennington!

Come and suck up this beautiful view with us and purchase some lovely spooky seasonal gifts and support a local cooperative in the process.

“Remember, the big corporate shops don’t shout ‘Yay’ and do a jig when you buy one of their goods. We do. Make someone jig this Autumn!”

Thank you to all our happy customers!

Phew, what a great day!

Thank you to everyone who came and purchased handmade goods and piece of art from our artists on Sunday at Dulcimer.

Artist Suzy Schwenk was a star all day and thank you to everyone else who came down to show your support.

Thank you also to superstar flamenco guitar player Tom Page for providing us with some gorgeous live music later in the afternoon.

We had some lovely work from the wonderful Becky Beighton @tit_ts which went down a storm.

Keep your eyes on this space, as more goodies will be uploaded onto our shop over the next few days.

#mentalhealthatwork

So Prince thingy has launched a joint campaign with Mind regarding mental health in the workplace.

This got me thinking – with regards to all the evidence for arts-based therapeutic practice, surely even introducing tiny exercises into your day will help too.

No, I don’t mean watching Netflix and doing ‘mindful colouring’ in a colouring book that cost £9.99 – I mean proper, raw, take-your-pen-for-a-walk, loadsa-your-favourite-shapes, make-up-your-own-little-pocket-monster type doodling.

And so we at CH+ launch our new scheme, doodle at work. Send your workdoodles in all week and we’ll get a bangin gallery going!

EMAIL US at info@chplus.uk with pics of ur week’s doodles

Here’s a link to a page about Zentangling – which is a fancy, new, marketable name for taking ur pen for a walk.

Shove some felt-tips in yer bag tomorrow and take 5.

Here’s mine from today:

Hello world!

…And welcome to a new social enterprise project based in M21.

CHPLUS.UK

The main goal for 2018 is to have the online shop up and running, selling the art-n-craftwork of residents in and around the Chorlton area.

Have you ever gone and done a nice doodle and thought “Hey, that’s nice”?

Have you ever gone to a craft fair and seen a handmade card for £11.99 and thought, “Erm, I could definitely make a nicer card than that”?

If so, get in touch now to be featured on our site. We can’t wait to hear from you.

ARTS FOR WELLBEING

In the next few months, CH+ will be taking referrals for a closed, inclusive arts-for-wellbeing 8 week course that will work on a ‘pay-what-you-feel’ model for people suffering with long term health problems. The course will be held at a local venue that is wheelchair accessible and will end with a week long exhibition at the end. Participants will be invited to make things to sell on the shop, as well as for themselves.

THE VISION

By 2019, the website will include a database of local community groups and an accompanying calendar. CH+ will work on an asset-based community development model, aiming to provide support for existing community groups in aspects such as venue hire and social media/marketing support.

A ‘What would you like to see in your community?’ feature will enable CH+ to help individuals or groups evolve their interests into sustainable and self-led community ventures.

Is there a group you’ve always wanted to see in your community? We’d love to hear from you.

Why the delay?

Hi, I’m Ellie. I am taking a year out of my MA in Social Work in order to have some major surgery, starting in September. The shop and the course are things I can set up now and run comfortably whilst recovering.

THE GBP.

Some funding is required to get the organisation off the ground and registered as a Community Interest Company – initially this will cover administrative costs of running the shop, materials for workshops, marketing and recruitment, refunding volunteer expenses, and hopefully a small monetary recompense for yours truly.
